Time keeping & Time limit

New classification for the award ceremony - gross time instead of net time!

The Berliner Wasserbetriebe 5 x 5 km TEAM-Relay is one thing above all: a celebration of togetherness. In order to make the course around the award ceremony just as lively as the race itself, we are changing the scoring a little this year: The three fastest relay teams will no longer be honoured according to net time, but according to gross time. This means that the three teams that finish first will be on the podium - regardless of which wave they started in. The order in which they actually cross the finish line is decisive. So if your relay team has ambitions for the podium, we recommend starting in the first wave. If there is a relay team that starts in the second wave but is faster than the honoured relay teams in terms of net time, this will be reflected later in the ranking in the results list.

The advantages:

  • Direct award ceremony without long waiting times
  • Transparent ranking for all spectators
  • More excitement in the finish area
  • Big applause exactly when it should be loudest
  • Competitive character for ambitious teams
  • Intensive community experience and due recognition of the winning teams in front of a large audience

Timekeeping MIKA TAG

Even if the clock is ticking: What remains is what you experience together.

The time keeping is done with the MIKA TAG. The MIKA TAG consists of the start number on which a transponder is attached. The timing is done as usual by running over the mats at the start and finish.
Since the MIKA TAG is a "disposable transponder", there is no need to return the start number.

Timelimit

The time limit is 3 hours.

Snack Bag

Traditionally, our 5 x 5K TEAM-Relay includes a picnic basket with delicious snacks and a bottle of your chosen drink. Since 2024 the picnic basket is a Snack Bag, a environmentally friendly alternative. Of course each team can complete the picnic with delicacies brought from home.

Important note: As in previous years, for reasons of sustainability, we will not be handing out any plastic cups. For the protection of the environment, we therefore ask all participants to bring a drinking bottle and/or reusable drinking cups! We appreciate your support and understanding.

Hand out Snack Bag

  • Tuesday: 3:00 - 6:30 pm
  • Wednesday: 3:00 - 6:30 pm
  • Thursday: 3:00 - 6:30 pm

Relay batons

Every team needs a baton to pass on to the next runner.

The transitions are one of the highlights of the race. The more original the batons are, the easier they are for the teams to identify to ensure a quick transition. There are no limits to creativity.

Of course, if needed, you can borrow a "normal" baton on site.

Changing facilities

Changing tents will be available on the event site. There will be no showers.

Medals, Results & Certificates

New in 2025: Each tema member of the Berliner Wasserbetriebe 5 x 5K TEAM relay will receive a medal. These will be handed out without exception when leaving the transition area or as for the final runner after crossing the finish line. Please make sure not to leave the transition area or the finish line without a medal.

Results will be available online right after the event. There you can also download your team certificate.
