Despite the rain, Berlin once again experienced a marathon festival! Most of the 7,500 participants at the start made the best of it. The excitement could be felt everywhere at the race. The emotional highlight was once again the bubbling enthusiasm between the grandstands on the final stretch after the Brandenburg Gate. At the evening season-culminating party, about 1,500 guests loosened up their legs by dancing well into the night. The following text includes tips, information and stories about the marathon!

Lists of results, certificate, and final stretch finishes from mysports.tv and Marathonfoto
The most important thing is naturally your personal data and photos. The official certificate and the lists of results will go out at in November. You can currently view the results online here, including a video of your personal finish (mysports.tv). You can also print out a preliminary certificate. Lines at the Race Number Pickup
Unfortunately there were a few delays at the race number pickup due to some technical problems, for which we would like to express our apologies. We will be sure to keep things running more smoothly in the future. Having more participants pick up their race materials on Thursday and Friday would also help alleviate the situation.

Plenty of winners in the rain, with many successful participants from Germany
Giovanna Turchiarelli from Italy (Alessi World Team) and Severin Widmer from Switzerland (Luigino Rollerblade World Team) are the new champions of the 37th real,- BERLIN-MARATHON Inline Skating. The 22-year-old Swiss skater did an especially good job of demonstrating that you can skate fast in the rain too. He won the most prestigious road race of the season in a world-class and “rain record” time of 1:09:19. For the second time in 14 marathons, it was a water battle; both times the “rain kings” came from Switzerland.
Once again this year, amateur and fitness skaters made up about 95 percent of the field. They managed to adjust well to the conditions. Despite the wet course, there were no more incidents than in previous years, and no major injuries were incurred. Once again the skaters proved that if you have the “I’ll show you” attitude, inline skating is possible in the rain too. In addition to the champions the German top skaters also presented strong performances. . Katharina Rumpus from Heilbronn, at only 17 years of age and competing in her first marathon, rolled into third place. Felix Rijhnen from Darmstadt finished in a strong 5th place, the best ranking for a German male skater ever. Both skate for the Powerslide Matter World Team.
More about the champions, as well as statistics and facts are available here.

Winners in the Category “Fitness”
If you exclude the approx. 300 professional skaters, most of the skaters clearly compete in the category “fitness”. The proud winners this year came from Germany and France: Ulla Hingst from Lübeck (der-rollenshop.de, 1:24:12) and Arnaud Bertine from Longpont Sur Orge (1:23:39). You can view all of the results here.

Inline skaters win the category for the double starters
It is almost becoming a tradition now for the inline skaters to dominate the double starter category. It is apparently easier for an inline skater to run a marathon than vice versa (191 athletes participated as double starters this year). The winners are Ulla Hingst (1:24:12/4:08:43) from Schwerin and Nico Wieduwilt (1:17:01/3:06:26) from Gera. For Ulla, the rain was more of a hindrance for the skating marathon: “With the small wheels on the wet asphalt, it was a lot easier to slip around than when running”. For Nico, there was one major difference: “Skating means tactics, body contact, and pace changes. For the running race, on the other hand, I had to find my rhythm early and keep it to the end. At the end, I was simply trying to get from one kilometre mark to the next”.  All of the results can be viewed here.

Finals of the SCC-Skating KidsCup through the Brandenburg Gate!
150 kids took advantage of the opportunity to skate along the blocked off streets at one of the most fabulous sites in Germany. The finals for this year’s SCC-Skating KidsCup took place directly at the Brandenburg Gate. Kids aged 6-13 were eligible to participate. Enthusiastic spectators and sunny skies helped motivate the kids, providing the stars of tomorrow with a great experience. The results are available here.
