A most gratifying medical balance

Despite the warm temperatures at the real,- BERLIN-MARATHON weekend
there were no serious complications. The real,- BERLIN-MARATHON
Medical-Team registered in total a figure of 1,843 assistances which
included 1,456 in the finish area. 65 people were hospitalised and four
people got emergency hospitalisation. But at no point anybody was in a
life threatening state. Most assistances were because of minor problems
(1,774). This means things like apply a plaster or supply liquid.
„The medical treatment was warranted at every point. We saw that we
also master everything in warm weather,“ said Co-Medical Director Lars
Brechtel. He also referred to a figure of 200 suspensions from the race
after medical checks on the expo BERLIN VITAL.
At the inline skater race there were 481 treatments, but 457 were minor
treatments. In total 24 people got hospitalised, with one emergency,
but it was harmless as it appeared later. The cooperation with the
Berlin Fire brigade and other services was really good on both
days.
